Gene grew up on a small Island off the coast of South Carolina. His love of surfing and all things ocean related, took him to San Diego where he thrived as a Sales Representative in the Surf Industry. Gene returned to the east coast in 1990 where he worked in the restaurant industry ultimately as General Manager of some of Charleston’s finest restaurants.
In 1996 Gene and his wife opened the Green Heron, a beach store deli that they operated for 8 years. During this period, they visited Costa Rica yearly and at a point it was obvious that they had to make it their home. Gene has stated often that “I had an epiphany standing on a beach watching the waves, I had to have this for my children, because this is the way I grew up”. They sold their store and moved to Uvita, Costa Rica in 2006. Since that time, Gene has worked on multiple projects in Costa Rica, but primarily as a home inspector. Having inspected well over one hundred commercial and residential structures in the area, Gene has become very familiar with the local real estate landscape, and has developed a very keen eye for property valuations and looking out for client's best interests. There are few people more qualified in helping to evaluate a home for clients on the listing-side or the buy-side in this market. Also, Gene's family has been involved in the local real estate market here in some form or fashion during the past twelve years. Gene brings his extensive local experience, varied business background and passion for the local lifestyle to the table to help fully support his clients during their search and evaluation of the best property offerings in the area.
